Underground concreting in an anhydrite mine with the Putzmeister P 720 TD double-piston pump

In Liebenau in the German state of Hesse, a new crushing and conveying plant is currently being set up in the Knauf anhydrite mine.

The Putzmeister P 720 double-piston pump is being used for this project, along with modern technology, to create foundations, walls and ramps underground.

The mining of anhydrite takes place in a challenging environment, which is why the concrete is transported to the P 720 TD by a truck mixer that drives about 500 metres into the mine. To make transport easier, the headroom has been specially adapted so that the mixer can pass through without any problems.

The P 720's conveying range is between 90 and 120 metres, with the concrete being pumped through delivery hoses. In the first phase of construction, around 30 square metres are to be pumped. The concrete pump operator, MM Betonpumpen from Vellmar, ensures that everything runs smoothly.

The P 720 TD is particularly versatile as it is available with either a modern 3-cylinder Deutz turbo diesel engine (almost 45 kW, version TD) or as an electric version (TE). This flexibility makes it possible to pump concrete horizontally up to 300 metres or vertically up to 100 metres, which makes it the ideal choice for the challenges of underground mining.

This innovative technology further increases efficiency and safety in anhydrite mining, and construction work can be carried out quickly.
